That would be true if at least 20 global banks held trillions in derivative options (bets) on the relative soundness of the L.A. economy.

If the derivatives fail they are on the hook for hundreds of billions of dollars. And guess where that money will come from...

So what happens when the banksters all realize the Credit Default Swaps have no intrinsic value. Wo loses and who wins. Why should any govermnents be involved?
