No. To prosper you need more resources than you had before unless you voluntarily reduce your population by removing the non producers.

Speaking as a Vietnam veteran I would very much like to see you terrified warmongers lead the assault. I would also like to see all the corporate war contractors provide the men and materials on a pro bono basis. They have extorted multiple billions from the American taxpayer so they should pay for this war out of their ill gotten gains.

Looking at the situation from a longer term viewpoint I would almost like to see Iran destroy the Saudi Arabian thugdom and maybe teach the Israelis to stop acting like mini Russian imperialists.

we aren't even getting resources with these wars, are we? our oil prices are higher than when we started fighting.

people said that we were going into iraq to get the oil, but we didn't take the oil. if we went in to get saddam, then the mission has been accomplished.

we are running out of excuses to engage in continuing war actions.

america has plenty of untapped resources that we should be focused on.

If you get out before you place a puppet government in Iran then you effectively gave up the entire reason you were there in the first place. You wanted to control the trade routes from SE Asia, Russia and China to the rest of the planet.

Whoever controls those routes gets to determine the direction of the next century.

Just because the government didn't deliver your fair share of oil to you after Iraq fell doesn't mean they didn't do it out of their own self interest.

I would prefer to have a Shia/Sunni war that would distract the Muslims for the next ten generations.

No, the fascist murdererous dictatorship of criminals is not going to get a pass for that
4) israel would have ALREADY hit them - but Bush stopped them from doing so in 2008
5) we are WINNING in iraq and afghanistan genius, how else could the troop numbers be getting drawn down if we weren't?
6) the number of people in iran is irrelevent, the idea is to wipe that regime, the republican guard, basij and its nuclear weapons program off of the map
7) if we don't, saudi arabia a nd egypt will also go nuclear in a few years, and will without question drop several on iran
8) a nuclear-armed iran will embolden that wretched dictatorship to taking even more aggressive terrorist actions, with its proxies attacking all over the world. With a nuclear umbrella behind them, who would be willing to take them on?

For these reasons and others, a nuclear-armed iran is not a tolerable situation, and will lead to a massive, likely nuclear, armed conflict - if not with the US, then with the arabs leading the way against their sworn enemy, the shia of iran.

A penny of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Geez....the brainwashing must really work on some people.

See ya later! Have a good time in Iran.

Default Department of Defense: Iranian nuke-carrying ICBM by 2015

According the Department of Defense, we really will be done and broke if we ignore the Iranian threat:
Iranian missiles could reach US by 2015 - New York NY | Examiner.com

Iran could develop a ballistic missile capable of striking the United States by 2015, a senior US official told lawmakers, according to AFP.
Asked at a senate hearing about Tehran's missile capability, James Miller, principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, said current estimates indicate "that it could potentially be as soon as 2015" when Iran possesses ICBMs capable of reaching the United States.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported Sunday that Defense Secretary Robert Gates has warned in a secret three-page memo to White House officials that the United States does not have an effective long-range policy for dealing with Iran's progress toward nuclear arms.
Fox News reported yesterday on a new 12-page unclassified report prepared by the Department of Defense on the Iranian military threat.
In addition to making the same claim regarding Iranian ICBM capabilities by 2015, this new report indicates Iran is an active adversary against the US in Iraq and Iran, and against Israel in Lebanon.
The new DOD report alleges:
"Iran continues to provide money, weapons and training to select Iraqi Shia militants despite pledges by senior Iranian officials to stop such support. Iran also offers strategic and operational guidance to militias and terrorist groups to target U.S. Forces in Iraq and undermine U.S. interests."
The report outlines Iran's efforts to play a "double game" inside Afghanistan:
The regime makes big promises to the Afghan government trying to appear to be a good neighbor, and is also sending weapons into the country....

Remembering all the dire warnings we heard in the '60s-'70s, how there'd be men in black PJs overrunning every Main St USA if we didn't the COMMUNIST! menace in Vietnam, I have to take all this with a grain, NAH! a whole box of salt. The only black PJ clad folks I see in my neighborhood are delivering take-out. The problem with much of the military is they get lotsa neat toys and get antsy when they don't get to play with them.
