I hear its worse in Northern Indian states, which are also the poorest.

Its also a problem here in America. 75% of third children born to Asian American parents are male.

I think this problem will fix itself though. China and India are two countries where the rights of women have not been respected. As women become a scarcer commodity we can probably expect to see the status of women improve in those countries.

The easiest, and least invasive approach in China would be to life the one child policy. How about offering subsidies to families that produce girls, in either country? That too would be non-invasive. Sounds like a good cause for a charity.
