they are as bad as the dems, the sooner people understand that and stop playing the D vs. R game the better we'll all be.
If the two parties are equally bad (and there is something to that), then is it not in the nation's best interest to make simple standard to insure that there is no chicanery on Election Day?

Not with the greed/corruption running rampant in US politics.

I have to admit. I find the GOP shamefully disgusting as a political party and they no longer deserve respect. Kudos to Clinton for speaking out.
Sorry both you and Clinton are wrong.

no because i dont believe voter fraud is a big deal to begin with.

i think voter suppression is a bigger deal, which is done by both parties.

an example here was the gop putting out notices in a non white neighborhood telling them the election was a day later.

an example on the dem side was the black panthers outside a polling station.

voter ID is another story, one that i havent followed up on to make accurate commentary. my question with voter ID is what type of ID is required, then i can address that.

You might want to study the 1960 election then. The one where dead people voted. And you might want to familiarize yourself with some of the issues that emerged from the 2000 election; the one where people were too dumb to go to the proper polling place or push a piece of paper all the way through.

I would agree with your two examples. Seems someone should know when Election Day is though.

why would you expect that? a large minority of the country doesnt even vote.
those posters are meant to confuse people and stop them from coming, no excuse for it.

as for Voter ID, if the state pays for the ID I don't have a problem with it.

as a previous poster said, voting is a right, not a privilege.

there is also no law saying you need a drivers license in this country. most people have it, but many don't.

if a birth certificate works as a form of Voter Id, which everyone has, then im fine with that as well.

requiring only one form of ID though and only accepting that form is not good enough.

It's coming to that though and from the Federal level.

Oh... so now you are saying it is indeed black and hispanic issue after challenging me on it? I think "you are correct" are the words you are seeking.

Asking people, ALL PEOPLE, to present ID is somehow racist? How do they drive? How do they cash checks? How do the enter a government building? How do they travel to another country? How do they purchase alcohol? How do they apply for a job? How do they attend a college?

All of these activiites generally require an ID. Even some polling places do. I presented an ID on Election Day for years in Washington, DC. Our African-American majority had no problem with it.

I agree its sleazy. None the less, people should know better. If a "large minority" chooses not to vote or do not even know when election day is, its hard to be sympathetic.

There is certainly a law in all 50 states and associated territories that one must have a license to drive.

Nobody said anything about "one form of ID". Passport, Drivers License, State-issued Non Drivers ID would all be fine. A birth cert has no photo or might be from another country and devoid of a translation. A volunteer at the polls cannot verify its authenticity, so NO.

If outfits like Acorn are all gun ho to register these folks, then just take them to the DMV and get a free state ID while they are at it.

You already have the means in place to get these poor souls that can't seem to get an ID themselves to the DMV to get their picture taken.
