While an ill-conceived plan, it's a tiny number of guns. The idea that had they not released these guns means that some of the badguys would have therefore not gotten a gun from another source is ludicrous.

So, I have a hard time reasonably attributing deaths to the operation.

It's like the guy that bought a firearm legally from a gun store and then shot up a crowd. Do we blame the gun store because had they been closed that day all those people wouldn't have been shot? No. He would have gone 3 blocks down the street and bought from the next gun store.

Watergate and "fast and Furious" is still small potatoes compared to Iran-Contra.

Why do you guys seem so surprised when we (The US Govt.) get caught? Are you really that naive? Do you really think we (The US) are the keepers of peace world wide? We (The United States) are the biggest arms dealer in the world.

As far as "Fast & Furious" it would seem the following agencies had to have had early knowledge, cooperation, and possibly funding in addition to BATFE:

DOJ
State Dept.
DHS
DEA
USBP
and possibly ICE

If these agencies are responsible or complicit with the arming of terrorist organizations with whom we have an active "war on drugs" (drug cartels responsible for mass deaths along our border) isn't that dancing dagerously close with the definition of treason?
But it all has to be proven.
Watergate is over, a done deal. This one can't even get people to testify.
And if all those agencies are involved then WHO will do the investigating since the DOJ may be complicit ?

Just like we armed Al Queda, now they want to attack us.

Mexico has drug lord representatives in almost every major city. It only takes a few Anti American Mexicans to attack us from within.

Whats wrong with Obama?

Mexico has submarines, tunnels into the U.S. we are giving them automatic weapons.

Iran-Contra was wrong, but the the intention was not all wrong. Besides that isn't the subject of this thread. Why don't you start one about Iran-Contra if you want to discuss it?

Watergate, a purposeful and wanton criminal conspiracy.

Fast and Furious, utter incompetence.

The comparison is apples to hand grenades (pun intended)
