lol you act like some new yorker is any match for armed TSA officers who probably have a lot of ammo and backup.

not saying it'd be right, obviously. Also IIRC the NYPD already does random bag inspections. The MTPD here in DC does it as well. What's funny is they only do it during rush hour. Guess terrorists take a break between 9AM and 5PM.

TSA should be fixed or scrapped. Allowing it to continue as-is shouldn't be an option.

Current sentiment is running overwhelmingly against TSA

83.67% Feel TSA should be dismantled or scaled back

- 28.57% Believe it should be scaled back
- 55.1% Believe it should dismantled

10.2% Feel TSA provides a Valuable Service

- 2.04% Believe the Role of TSA should be expanded
- 8.16% Believe TSA Provides a Valuable Service

6.12% Have no opinion one way or the other

I wonder how representative this is of the general populace.
What kind of demographics are respresented on City-Data?
Of those demographics what percentage are drawn to the Politics and Other Controversies and/or Great Debates forum?
Of that percentage, what sub-percentage are motivated to vote?

It's interesting but does it tell us anything?
I know that TSA is an issue in the General Populace or it wouldn't be causing noise in the media and especially the internet, but again, does this tell us anything of note?

Comments?
Feedback?
Surprises?

If the ineffective TSA was traded out for an organization like the IDF, there would be no waste of time or effort in WHO should be profiled. Not sure the IDF wastes their time frisking babies and the elderly. They are effective because they don't subscribe to the idiotic PC regimentation this nation has fallen prey to.

I personally don't have a problem walking through a metal detector at the airport. I don't really mind taking my shoes off to go through a security line.

What I do have a problem with is systematically searching every 10th person with a pat down for no good reason, and then not allowing any family member to accompany them through the airport.

I think the TSA is way over doing it, and that the risk that flight hijacking and terror attacks in general pose to American citizens isn't proportional to the money and attention paid to the TSA.

I personally don't trust the government to run a lemonade stand let alone airport security.

I am completely amazed at the distrust of the goverment. As I am sure many of you are completely amazed at my trust in it.

Oh well. To each their own I guess right?

Well, when you earn it you own it.

Dismantle them completely. That the gov't thinks they have the duty to protect us from every damn risk out there is ludicrous. I'd readily accept much, much more risk for less gov't intrusion and over-reaching. The TSA is the definitive knee-jerk gov't reaction to a world that has risk. They have mission creep and only get worse at what they do while becoming more intrusive. TSA/DSH, don't protect us from the 'terrorists', protect us from you!
