1) It looks like Bachmann had 20, not 23, "foster children", from 1992 to 1996 (she let her lic. expire in '98)

2) Bachmann didn't "help raise" any of them. They were all teenage girls who lived with the Bachmann's two or three at a time for a period of a few weeks, to a year.

3) Bachmann did not procure her wards through the Minnisota foster child system. She asked for and received them through something called PATH, an in-home counseling program (all of the girls had been diagnosed with eating disorders).

4) By getting them through PATH, the Bachmann's were able to claim to be "treating" the girls for their diosorder. As a consequence, the Bachmann's got twice as much money per child as they would have through the foster system.

No wonder Bachmann never gets into the details of her years as a "foster mom"! She'd rather leave us to imagine her as "Wondermom", surrounded by 23 contented Gerber babies or something, then explain the more prosaic truth.

Thanks, KU, for giving us a second crack at this subject! Let's get together and do this once a week, till Bachmann is out.

Why is it that whenever someone disputes facts or points out the sheer stupidity of a republican politicain, they are accused of being scared? Does this not apply to Obama, Biden or Bill Clinton, it's not like no one has insulted them or disputed anything they've said? Anyone who can't stand the heat, needs to stay out of the kitchen. Women, minorities...whoever are all fair game if they decide to enter the political arena.

What a pathetic excuse of an argument, that everyone is marching against her.

The problem is that unless some one is batcrap insane they see how much of a delusional lunatic she really is. Then when she puts herself forward in the media and gets mocked, she can't address the argument because she really said something that dumb...so it's off to the persecution complex. Laughably that makes her look even worse, as the only people who use that argument are tin foil hatted wingnuts.

The sad part is she can't stop. Like the pledge that she signed with Santorum that contained the language that African-Americans were better off under slavery.

And:
"the Bachmann's were able to claim to be "treating" the girls for their disorder (anorexia). As a consequence, the Bachmann's got twice as much money per child as they would have through the foster system."

In addition, since these girls had anorexia, the Bachmanns did not have to spend much money to feed them. A total cash cow for them!

No one has to discredit her....she and her crazy spouse do all the discrediting that is needed. The left simply point it out. From Caribou Barbie to Baublehead Barbie, there is no difference. You can't just "run the country" with soundbites, hate filled rhetoric, anti-human rights platforms, and completely mis-reading consitutions and mis-quoting history. These lunatics discredit themselves and its just so sad!
