Yes that is right...military bands. Are you kidding me?

The House voted Wednesday to restore $120 million in funding that had been cut by the chamber's Appropriations Committee, The Associated Press reported. The committee had capped spending on military bands at $200 million.

Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, sponsor of the amendment to the $649 billion defense bill, said the cut to the band budget wouldn't save taxpayers any money nor would it reduce the Pentagon budget. He called the bands "an integral part of the patriotism that keeps our soldiers' hearts beating fast."

What was the montra by the Republicans - spending cuts. They won't even cut the bands budget OMG.

The Republican Party is in total servitude to the military industrial complex. The Democrats aren't too far behind, either.

Isn't it odd that we the people must sacrifice, but no mention of the jackasses in charge taking a pay cut, or benefit cut.

These worthless people in charge are multimillionaires America, they are the stinking rich not paying the fair share, they are trying to screw the rest of the country....And they will watch this country burn to save their own ass "Republican or Democrat"....remember that.

While I agree with you. It is not too big of a sacrifice to cut out band budget. I was in the Marine Corps. The band never inspired me. It was used for ceremonies. I hated ceremonies. It usually meant I was standing out in the hot sun for hours...no thanks.

The Republicans are not serious about cuts. IT is just talk.

Well we have to protect the semi-military members of the such organizations as the Marine Band whose members enlist into the Marine Corps as staff sergeants and only serve with the band. The same seems to hold for the Air Force Band where one is immediately promoted to E-6 after four months of duty. It seems that Privates are incapable of playing heart stirring marshal music.

I don't think that is correct. I knew many who were below E-6 in the band, but they were not a special line item on the defense budget. I don't know where all of that money goes?

Republicans are nothing more than hypocrites when they say they want to cut spending.
