Breaking: Dayton caves, will call special session « Hot Air

Quote:
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton sent a letter Thursday to House Speaker Kurt Zellers and Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, saying he “reluctantly” agrees to accept the Republican budget proposal from June 30 if it will end the government shutdown.
Let's hope the Republicans in the US Congress are watching and learning.

I think Dayton realized that the Republicans don't give a damn about Minnesota or middle class Minnesotans...they will hold out until the state collapses and laugh about it....you can't fight pure nastiness.

Actually they do. They care enough about the finances to take a stand.
Spending money you don't have is of greater danger down the road as we can see by just looking at DC and the mess we have there.

All Dayton wanted to do was "tax the rich". How many years can you continue doing that ?
That is not a good solution. What happens if your "rich" decide to leave like they did in other states ? Then you are faced with cuts regardless.

Oh brother! How stupid to think a state can only run on taxes collected from the middle class and poor!

The wealthy of Minnesota can afford to FINALLY do their part to fund the state...But Republicans will NOT upset their ONLY god, The Wealthy, by expecting them to give a little more that THEY can certainly afford.....nope the evil to the core Repugnant party just wants to cut funding to the poor, disabled, the elderly...

No and that's what the Republicans are doing.
Cuts across the board.

And even then Dayton wants them to approve a $500 million projects spending bill as part of his caving in..go figure.

The state is shut down and he still wants to spend money they don't have.

The good times are over and cities/states all over the US are finding that out. You cannot just take other people's money and continue the farce.
