This is the road we are heading down anyway may as well get it over with. It appears the folks in DC want this cradle to grave entitlement system along with many southpaws. Maybe its time we all just do it. Stay home, line up for the foodstamps, free bills, free mortgage payments, free healthcare, free everything and ride the train a few years until it crashes and burns.

Well if we wait just a bit..til Obamacare hits, then $60K a year will qualify you for medicaid.
The government has determined that $60K is going to be poverty level.

Those making that 200K salary will have to pay for everybody else. Lefty paradise.

How silly of you! I'm a Leftist and what you described in your OP doesn't remotely resemble a "paradise". Not ALL of us on the Left like a bloated government. I would prefer NO rulers.

This sounds exactly like what Fox News would subliminally scroll at the bottom of the screen all day long.

If you can't beat em, give up. All or nothing thinking.

Medicare/medicaid and social security are the most popular programs that the government runs. Even your fellow tea baggers support them en masse. It's not a matter of people in DC wanting them. Were you 65, you'd want Medicare or else you'd have 0 insurance for when the inevitable number of health issues arise at that age.

Again, that's not folks in DC. That's the majority of the population even your fellow tea baggers.

I do not agree with Obama's 12 month freeze on FHA defaulters being evicted. However, no one forces anyone to take out a mortgage. It is a contract and if you sign on the line and are able to honor it, you should.

That said, I'm all for reducing taxable income and putting the federal government on a lean diet.

Rather than the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach I'd take it at another angle and go the self sufficiency route instead. The more who are independent and self sufficient the harder it is to sell entitlement programs. Instead of foodstamps, garden, fish and hunt to make ends meet at the dinner table, can vegetables from the farmer's market, self-insure if you are out of work, make homebrew or wine for personal use to avoid paying alcohol taxes, etc... .

The train is going to crash unless meaningful cuts in spending are made NOW, not ten years down the road. Do your best to prepare yourselves and your family members. Get out off the train tracks and watch from your paid for front porch instead.
