Some of you sound very paranoid and insecure. Please provide examples of how the media or liberals are vilifying you.

Why is that righwingers can never acknowledge that maybe some people with liberal viewpoints are likewise just average hardworking folks trying to come home to crack open a beer in front of their big screen TV...
Conservatives who do that are "real Americans". Liberals who do that are what most of the right snidely calls, "the recipient class."

We don't. the things that most liberals support are in the best interests of people like you. No one is talking about raising taxes on your bracket, and we want to make sure you have affordable access to health care and education. The Republicans actually don't care about people like you. They say they do, and a few may be well intentioned, but mostly, they don't care. They just want to serve the corporate class.

I thought the American Dream was wanting a better life for yourself and your children. And I know that one surefire way to cut the deficit would be to get rid of welfare and tell those who are on it to find a job.
The American dream is about that, but not everyone is born with a fair shot. Some are born into poverty with poor educational and health care opportunities. They already are at a disadvantage as soon as they come home from the hospital. Most liberals want to ensure that everyone has a chance at what the Australians call "a fair go" at life. And I believe that can only happen when people have what I mentioned above.

I'm no Swedish socialist. I work hard, full time to pay my bills and balance my budget, and I expect other people to do the same. I don't believe in enabling people who make poor choices.

My dad worked hard, and so did my grandparents. They were working class...the kind of people that conservatives today consider "lazy" "non-producing", "the recipient class", simply because they weren't CEO's in Manhattan or Chicago. I truly believe that Democrats have the right ideas about protecting and preserving the middle class and ensuring fairness in American society. The Republicans...don't. They simply don't.

That's my .02
