In the thick of the heat wave is Oklahoma where Gov. Mary Fallin asked Oklahomans to pray for rain this Sunday.
"The power of prayer is a wonderful thing, and I would ask every Oklahoman to look to a greater power this weekend and ask for rain," Fallin said in a news release on Thursday.
It will. God loves us and answers his people's prayers so I'm sure we should be expecting some rain. Actually, we did get rain a few days ago. I checked the weather last week and we were suppose to have 100 degree heat all week with no rain. It rained randomly a few days ago.
Prayer causes people to believe in magical thinking: it makes them deluded and self-absorbed.
We know what causes rain and it's not God: it's thunderclouds.

True. But in the meantime if it provides them comfort in times of distress who am I to criticize?
By God, if you lived around here you would be ready to do whatever might work. I guess you don't know that Oklahoma didn't have much of a wheat crop this year because of the drought. They harvested a good share of their crop with plows, not combines. I suppose you know what that means.
Times of distress? Newsflash, God isn't doing anyone any favors. I think world history has proved that.
