"Asked what he thought of plans to build an Islamic mosque here, Cain said: "I think it is an infringement and abuse of our freedom of religion"
” He went on to say that he believes the building of the mosque is “another way to gradually sneak Sharia law into our laws, and I absolutely object to that.”
So allowing a group, such as Muslims to practice their religion is a violation of religious freedom??
It's both sad and amazing that someone can twist words the way the original poster did. Mr Cain did not say it was a violation, that was the words of someone who couldn't understand what they read.

No matter which side you bat on, we truly need to check Islamist expansion into America.
If you live by the moronic notion of the ACLU and freedom and such, we will soon have a huge bastion of sharia law nutters, like in France, and it will be too late when they can influence American elections.
I only see this as a problem if the mosque is a Wahabbi mosque. If it is, they need to be watched and hopefully kicked out of the country.
Frank, aren't you one of those folks always carping about the government not obeying the Constitution, folks violating your rights etcetera, etcetera, etcetera?

What part of, "I think it is an infringement and abuse of our freedom of religion, and I don't agree with what's happening here because this isn't an innocent mosque." was twisted by the OP?

You should watch Herman on Fox News Sunday in about 8 minutes or at 5:00 your time. Maybe you could hear Cain questioned at least as tough as he was by your sources. He handled it very well, I think.

IF Muslims are the scourge of the earth perhaps you'd care to enlighten us as to why so many have alleged it to be a noble thing to spend American blood & $$$ to bring democracy and a better life to them? Or is it just good, old-fashioned stupidity?

Yessum.
But I do have a question for you. Do you believe that certain groups like Neo-Nazis should be monitored? Now, I am not talking about some lone Neo-Nazi wacko, but let's say a sizable Neo-Nazi group. Should the government look into them at all?
That is how I view extremist Muslims. I believe everyone has the right to believe whatever they want. However, some ideologies and religions tend to skew a bit more to violent side. The Wahabbi school of Islam would be one of them and that Wahabbi mosques in Western nations are usually funded by Saudi Arabia and often have ties to terrorist groups. In fact, a number of terrorists have been recruited from Wahabbi mosques in the West, including America.
I do not support a police state nor am I supporting vast violations of privacy. What I am saying is that if this mosque happens to teach a brand of Islam that is completely incompatible with Western values and is explicitly hostile towards the people that hold them, then maybe it might be a good idea to keep tabs on what these people are doing and if they are a threat to the country, kick them out.
I really don't mean to sound condescending or hostile (I'm probably going to), but are you even familiar with Wahabbism at all?
Here is a report of some of the literature found in American mosques:
