Fender still makes guitars in Japan but most of those do not go to the US market. The Mexican made Fenders use parts made in the US.
Gibson moved production of Epiphone from the US to Japan about 1973 and then to Korea in about the mid '80s.
Fender's fellow Orange County, CA guitar manufacturer Rickenbacker still makes all their instruments in OC (which Fender has not done since the '70s).
It's a more expensive option but there are also individuals who make guitars, sometimes as a hobby or as a profession. My bass was built by a good friend of mine and it's fantastic. Super beautiful and well-built, although it's quite heavy.
SAS shoes, I believe are made here but their web site doesn't say which makes me suspecious. They used to be a good product but I haven't bought new shoes in a long time.
What are all those animals I see in feedlots all over Kansas? What are those animals I keep seeing at the packing plants? They sure aren't sheep or goats. Nope, my son raises calves to sell to feedlots that then sells them to packers. Not one Brazilian in the whole bunch, either.
I forgot that you may prefer grass fed beef but most Americans like them a bit fatter than that, ergo the feed lots.
American grown veggies prevents animal cruelty and is better for our environment.
America is so pathetic we have to import oranges and grass fed beef from Peru and Argentina respectively. 2/3 of our beef industry is soley owned by a Brazillian company. America f'k yeah! She's back!
Clothing-off the top of my head:
Hudson jeans (which ironically have a British Union Jack on the tag).
Seven for all Mankind jeans
Levi jeans ($100+ cuts)
~Alden shoes ($300+)
~Allen Edmonds shoes ($220+)
~Quoddy (the American made alternative to the now Chinese Sperry Top-Sider)
~Burberry London Trench Coats- cotton shell; wool lining (ie the $1,700 model. The cheaper poly-cotton models are Turkish or Serbian)
~Bill's Khaki's ($150+)
~Cockpit leather jackets ($595+)
Basically, it's not cheap. The situation is further compounded by many made-in-the-USA brands repositioning themselves as "luxury" or "speciality"/"boutique", with the commensurate premium.
I don't know what you mean by this, and I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. On most mattresses (except Sealy which manufactures it's own) the inner coil system is made by an American company, Leggett & Platt. The assemblage of mattresses, including the tufting, upholstering, and sewing is done in the factories that I have mentioned. One company, Kingsdown, is owned over 50% by it's own employees.
