New WaPo/ABC poll shows the middle class believes Obama, not the GOP, best represents their interests, by a margin of 53-37%.

New NBC/WSJ poll shows Americans approve of Obama's "balanced" approach to the debt ceiling "crisis" by a wide margin too.

Taken together, the two polls indicate Obama is winning the battle for public opinion with the GOP over the economy.

[MOD CUT]

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - President Obama Job Approval

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Direction of Country

RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - President Obama vs. Republican Candidate

Take a look at some swing state polls.......I'm sure the WH is shaking in their boots.

Seen the latest forecast for the US over the next year and a half?

And you actually think obama can win with UE @ 9+%, gas close to $5/gal, energy prices skyrocketing, another trillion or two he's added to the debt, a deficit of $1.5 Trillion as far as the eye can see.........not to mention all his scandals and lies that will be exposed.

Shhhh...his supporters like to leave out the very issues that will decide the election, which he happens to be miles underwater.

When running from a bear you only have to be faster than the person running along with you.

Poll respondents may strongly disapprove of Obama but if they like Republicans even less, then what?

Why would they dislike a conservative governor who has balanced his states budget, who is creating half the jobs in the US, who is the beneficiary of good tax policy that is luring business and individuals to his state?

Wait, people are shocked that Americans favor 'balanced' in a poll question over something else?

Did it? Did you miss the previous page? You actually think one poll is indicative of his re-election chances? A national one at that. Did you see his approval rating on the issues that will matter?

Hint - look at the state polls.

He's tanking there - seen the latest MI poll?

Oh, one other thing; anyone bother to check the internals of this poll?

Of course not - only a 6 point gap, which is better than the 11 point chasm of the CBS poll.

"Questions 7 through 14 held for release."

Hmm wonder why they withheld these little questions from release in this poll. Maybe the answers didn't fit the little picture they were trying to paint with it? Yep I'd bet so.

It's true, there is plenty in the polls to keep Obama up at night. Dems should be especially worried about how he's doing in the swing states. Even so, as someone else pointed out, Obama's numbers only look bad until you compare them to a Republican's. Then it's .

But the significance of the poll I linked is that, Obama's basic argument on the debt ceiling, that it must be raised, and that a balance of spending cuts and tax increases is the best approach, seems to be more in alignment with how American people think the issue should be addressed, than the rigid GOP approach.

I guess omitting questions 7-14 mean nothing to you either in this poll?
