Exactly!!!

The yankees keep invading the South on a regular basis and ruining our great areas. I think we are doing just fine down here - all the yanks can move back up North and see how their labor unions and dying towns work for them. Also, enjoy your lib influenced areas where entitlements run deep and socialism is a dream.

Actually, it was not the only independent nation within the US. The Republic of Texas actually got its ideas from the short-lived Republic of West Florida...

change of heart?
That's how I remember it, Le Roi, lol

TO OP: PLEASE secede. I can assure you, as a descendant (both sides of my family) of the pioneers and Patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War and the same ancestors who died after our State was invaded by the Federal government, no one here will protest!!!. . . PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE secede.

I promise you . . . there will be dancing in the streets, at least amongst my relatives and friends. I can't speak for the hundreds of thousands of folks from the NE who have relocated to NC b/c they were seeking lower taxes and cost of living . . . but I suspect they will feel the same way . . .

It is the sesquicentennial of the War of Northern Aggression this year. I can guarantee you all a big ole gun salute out of Sumter, SC, too.

The sooner we can free ourselves from the bondage of Federal regulations, the sooner my state can get back on its feet economically. We will start with cancelling all trade treaties with China - but maybe we won't have to - since it would be the FEDS seceding. We simply would not longer be party to those treaties and trade agreements! That means we can bring our jobs back. So please - take your treaties, your high taxes and your welfare states - and secede.

Just for the record, NC is believed to have the largest gold deposits in the USA. WIth you guys outta the way, we can all start digging and establish a currency - and an economy- that doesn't depend on borrowing from foreign gubments. We can start out with a clean financial slate! So take your debt, lousy policies, suffocating regs . . . and leave the rest of us in peace. We will be able to put everyone back to work - black, white, hispanic . . . so do us all a favor . . . and re-establish the Mason-Dixon line. We will be glad to put guards at our borders.

I seriously starting to think this country would be better off if it did split.

Note to katiana "we're already divided. That's why we're talking about it." Hey! at least it's something we can all agree on.

"OMG we can't fish...help us."

Or it will take a Hurricane. People in Texas talk about seceding almost every year until Hurricane Season comes around.

I sort of agree, however it's the red states that always talk about it but never deliver. Right-wing bluster as usual, but I say let them go. They won't do it of course, since they take plenty from the govt they hate -but it sounds macho and that is what's important.
I have said they would then demand foreign aid.
Time will tell how that "right-to-work" pans out. Anybody got stories about that?
