Will they really have "won"?

I was listening to Morning Edition this morning on NPR. Mara Liasson said that Republicans have received many concessions while the public consistently supports the "balanced" Obama approach. This got me to thinking: If the GOP wins this debt deal, but still loses in the court of public opinion, could this hurt their chances at keeping the house and winning the Senate in 2012? Just thinkin' out loud here.

Any thoughts?
