Let's keep to the issue of the War on Drugs, since the study being referenced was by the Global Commission on Drug Policy. Though this commission has a member that was a former U.N. Secretary General, it looks like the writer of the original cite mistakenly stated the study was by the U.N.

The War on Drugs is a ridiculous waste of money and effort, and yet another way in which Big Government gains even more power and ability to confiscate money and assets. If we didn't flood our jails with people who have drug use issues, we wouldn't have to constantly be letting murderers and thieves and other dangerous criminals out of jail early.

Yet again, Ron Paul is absolutely right.

One has to be an a-hole to be listened to.

Exactly. Lock up those who actually represent a THREAT to mainstream society - not those who merely want to avoid it.

*EDIt* Or are they one and the same?

The WOD may have failed as to its original intention, but its a rousing success for what it really does.

Thanks, I do try to have a good thought now and then. It was interesting to find out that Ron Paul came to the same conclusion I did.

The UN is irrelevant.

Ron Paul and the War on Drugs
And the sky is blue. Who knew?

A large part of our military, policing, homeland security, and intelligence agencies budget goes to the drug war.

If you want to keep spending 60,000 dollars a year to lock non violent offenders up who otherwise could be productive members of society, its your business.

Legalize, regulate, tax.

Fundamentalist religions are opposed to free-market drugs because mind expanding, or mind numbing, drugs have the effect of causing an indifference to their authoritarian gods.

And, without authoritarian gods, mortal authoritarians would lose their authoritarian method of controlling others.

Republicans believe that there can be no such thing as a non-criminal person, without threat or exercise of punishment.

This is because Republicans are born with big amygdalas and small penises.

Fear Shrinks!

War on drugs cost 15 Billion dollars in 2010

Women spent 7 Billion dollars on makeup in 2010

Americans spent 15 Billion dollars on bottled water in 2010

So what?

It's just another business.........
