There's no doubt it has saved us a lot of grief. Too bad they managed to circumvent it with obamacare...

Quite a few of those Republican newbies in the Senate are young men compared to Reid and his "old guard" buddies so they may have some trouble twisting enough arms to get 7 votes. They don't need bi-partisan to pass this one since they have agreed on a simple majority being enough.

How many Republicans voted for Obamacare? I didn't know that even the RINOs from Maine made that mistake. Well maybe three RINOs did the dirty.

None - they used "reconciliation"...

[Edit] - (it initally passed the senate when Kennedy was still technically alive to give them the 60th vote)

Well when Obama uses the 14th amendment and just simply raises the debt ceiling like everyone should be doing to begin with, we can get on with the business of creating jobs in the country. This is a manufactured purely political football game anyway.

It's just Reid playing politics. He wants to run out the clock and raise pressure on the negotiations that will take place when his bill too is inevitably voted down. This is how we will get to 6 am on Aug. 2nd with these idiots on both sides still haggling.

This administration is a purely manufactured political football. get on with the business of creating jobs? Not under this POTUS. Under his policies corporations cannot flee fast enough. Have you paid attention to the news? Obamacare medical device tax is running companies like Boston Scientific straight to China. Even the Obama job's czar Immelt is taking Government Electric's x-ray division to China.

Wake up already!

According to the link they do. McConnel offered an immediate vote but Reid said only if the 60-vote requirement is waived...

Great, huh? If a repub's "jobs" guru moved a division to China the media's heads would be exploding! Obama? Oh my - it just wouldn't be fair to hold the poor boy accountable...

A bipartisan majority in the House defeated Dirty Harry's bill, the one that he filibustered, the one that never even got a vote in the Senate.

11 Dems voted against the bill - and they weren't all lefties either.
