Now the Obama administration can return to its primary focus: dismantling the US economy via the EPA, NLRB, and every other agency under its control. Automakers, domestic energy, Boeing, "corporate jet owners," community banks, electricity producers, manufacturers...with the debt crisis averted, and the focus returned to economic destruction, the list will grow.

It's so we can't pay bills we OWE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Thanks to Bush and company!)

It's like going to dinner....having a great meal..and then not wanting to pay bill.

That's not how it works. Everyone agrees we need to get the deficit under control. However, we still need to pay the bills!
You are shouting at a brick wall. No one seems want to understand that the debt ceiling and future spending are actually two different things. Blame that on the media and some in Congress who get mileage out of people thinking they are the same. But you have to admit, it is a pretty good strategy to hold the debt ceiling hostage in return for future spending cuts. It certainly has put a spotlight on the situation.

I don't think so. They said they are close to a deal, but they also said their plan would not remove any tax loopholes. In other words they still have the same demands and are giving nothing in return, so I am not sure why they think their plan would be acceptable to Dems. I don't see any reason why Dems should go with it.

Obviously not, Einstein. The negotiations were ditched and the entire thing died before it even got to real legislative proposal. So it's history now. The point is that there was real, substantive negotiation about a $4B deal between Boehner and Obama, or else pretty much all the newspapers of the world wouldn't have been full of articles talking about said negotiation. And I'm sure that many democrats didn't like the plan either, but it was Boehner who walked away from the table. That was also covered to death by the papers. It's not like Boehner was making a secret of it.

The hopey changey worked for you didn't it? You just said you made a killing in the stock market. Sounds like you take what you can, and then spit on those who made it happen.
