So why can't Obama use the 14th Amendement if congress doesn't act?

Does the 14th amendment say he gets to borrow as much as he likes?

He can; but, he will face immediate impeachement proceedings if he does.
Honestly Obama wants to use it and thus the reason behind the hysteria he has trying to create as he shouts fire repeatedly at Theater Kabuchi. It is actually not from the 14th Amendment where he would gain his power but in the Executive Orders put in place by administrations preceeding this one.

Whichever politicians you're referring to were wrong for having ignored the Constitution. How can you even begin to justify further ignoring Constitutional restraint?

If memory serves me you recently claimed your political views have become more Libertarian. Suggesting elected officials should seize upon an excuse to exceed the powers afforded them by their office is anything but Libertarian in nature.

Even as an Obama supporter, because other presidents have "done it" is not excuse as far as I am concerned. Either Obama acts in good faith (in the legal sense) or he doesn't.

Applying the the 14th Amendment to raise the debt limit may or may not be Constitutional one that most constitutional scholars believe the Supreme Court will be extremely reluctant to weigh in on so it will be interesting how it would play out.

Which like the Clinton impeachment will be pointless exercise.

It wasn't pointless. He had to be tried because he broke the law(s).

His own advisors have told him that he can't do that. Besides Mitch McConnel has a bill that will give him the right to raise the debt ceiling several times and the Dems won't pass that bill, I hope.

How about you listing some of the others who have violated the Constitution and how they did it? Please.
