GOP on verge of huge, unprecedented political victory - The Plum Line - The Washington Post

Quote:
Anything can happen, but it apppears the GOP is on the verge of pulling off a political victory that may be unprecedented in American history.

Again and again, Dems drew lines in the sand that they promptly erased as the threat of default grew.
The GOP/TP has totally changed the debate on spending, debt, deficit and the federal government's abuses of same.

Obama has been forced to adopt the Tea Party position of major cuts, NO taxes and accountability.

Outcry From the Left Precedes Debt Deal

Quote:
Liberals began tearing into President Obama and Democrats on Sunday, accusing them of caving to Republican demands even before final details of a debt ceiling agreement have been announced.

In a scathing statement based on early reports, MoveOn.org said the “debt deal has gone from bad to worse” and they called it “extremely troubling that it now appears that some Democrats are willing to give in to Republican demands to make this already disastrous plan worse for working families.”
See, obama knows they will still vote for him, but he's after the Indies, who have fled in droves.

Quote:
However the debt limit showdown ends, one thing is clear: under pressure from Congressional Republicans, President Obama has moved rightward on budget policy, deepening a rift within his party heading into the next election.

Entering a campaign that is shaping up as an epic clash over the parties’ divergent views on the size and role of the federal government, Republicans have changed the terms of the national debate. Mr. Obama, seeking to appeal to the broad swath of independent voters, has adopted the Republicans’ language and in some cases their policies, while signaling a willingness to break with liberals on some issues.
Remember now, obama wanted a "clean" DC increase, he wanted "revenues" (tax hikes), he got neither...and before he can have the remaining traunch, a commission will find almost $2 trillion more, or it goes to the states as a BBA and then across the board cuts if that fails.

And yet the moonbats will still give him credit for it. Hell they'd give him credit for the seven wonders of the world.

How is a deal that continues to increase the debt by $7 Trillion over the next 10 yrs, grow government by 8% per year, and is guaranteed to downgrade our credit rating, a victory?

This is business as usual. It does not addess the out of control spending at all.

I posted the same thing in a thread claiming victory for the Democrats.

Who cares about victories for any political party or politician. What about what the People demand? We'll see if they met the demands of Americans.

It's a start though.

As long as obama is in the WH and the dems control the Senate, it's the best that can be done...now.

It's the most EVER done before...it's a start, the rest will have to wait for the GOP to take over.

Democrats will lose now. But they can win later. - Ezra Klein - The Washington Post

Quote:
Democrats are going to lose this one. The first stage of the emerging deal doesn’t include revenue, doesn’t include stimulus, and lets Republicans pocket a trillion dollars or more in cuts without offering anything to Democrats in return.

Some folks don't care about that. They are only happy if they think the "other side" is PO'd about something.

Obama's ace in the hole is the looming counterproductive tax increase on society's MVP's. Under current law, it will go into effect in 2013. This will happen, unless there is legislation to stop it--veto-proof legislation. In other words, Obama's ideological war on producers has as easy "W" on the schedule.

It is minor consolation that Obama was denied another crack at nailing the makers. Perhaps the vaunted "commission" in the debt legislation will come out with pro-growth tax reform, so we can actually collect some revenues without strangling an economy drowning in Obama's regulatory initiatives.

Have you guys taken a look at the leftist blogosphere?

Oh my, they are very, very upset.

It is unquestionable that the Tea Party moved the entire debt ceiling deal to the right.
They did indeed, but that's because they had a mandate from the American people, in the form of the latest election.

Actually, I'm rather shocked the dems gave up so quickly on tax increases. I think the dems in the Senate put a stop to that right quick.
