Frightening? I don't know what kind of children you have, but if they are being scared by a lesson in caring for their environment, you might have bigger problems to worry about than this program being taught.
Do you Algoreans still have proof about man made global warming? If so is there a chance you could share it with us and explain why we hear only climate change from the UN people these days.
You may want to get your hearing checked because what "sounds like" "second hand knowledge" to you, was first hand facts. I read the books from the school myself. I saw the photos and written messages from the teachers myself. I visited the school on numerous occasions and after having a politically biased, antiwar message influencing a particular novel selection admitted to by a couple teachers, I finally pulled my kids from the public school. You may want to keep your assumptions to yourself.

Maybe science class should be totally dropped from the curriculum and while we are at it, let's drop history class because students might learn something before it is rewritten by the wackadoodle right.

No, but I am a member of The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens Society and we teach kids about planting organic produce and the harmful effects of pesticides and chemicals in their food and on the environment...does that make you bang youself in the head too?
...and yes, people are getting paid big time to openly deny climate change andd global warming.
