As a casual Marvel geek I think this is stupid. I, of course, don't have a problem with a gay super hero. I don't have a problem with a black super hero. I have no problem with a gay black super hero.
What is the purpose on remaking these characters like this? I understand there multiverse thing and as long as they don't change who the character is.

But the irony is, they will never redo an X-Men series where Storm is a white lady.
Would it matter? No. But I think people would be pissed the hell off if they did that.

We have tons and tons of super heroes/comics over time. What's stopping DC, Marvel or anyone else to make a new hero just as popular? Let him be gay. Let him be a gay latino muslim. But when you make this new hero a gay latino muslim .. he should remain a gay latino muslim in 30 years.

Maybe J. jonah Jameson can mentor spidey in a whole different way, this time.

Wish they would make a Spiderwoman or She Hulk movie.

Why not? SanFrans new super hero is Foreskin Man. Might as well revamp every character in their lineup to pander to the fringe. We'll see how strong their stock remains, and we all know who pulls the strings in publicly held corporations. Scrapping a successful business philosophy in exchange for ideologies? All I can say is "Good Luck with that Marvel"

Does Foreskin Man automatically regrow his foreskin, feed off of other people's foreskins or does he appear in hospitals to stop the horrible injustice of a circumcision?

Funny how Spiderman potentially being gay elicits jokes and mocking. America goes from one group to targer for abuse to another.

And PC? Um, reality isn't PC. That's what people go to when they have a bigoted opinion. Stop being PC. Because it's PC to not discriminate or hold biases.

This is a great move by Marvel comics and sends a very positive message.

What if they made Storm white? What message would that send?

The new Spiderman is NOT the same person. The "white" Spiderman dies and someone else (who happens to be "not white") takes over the persona.

You argument is baseless.

It's not a positive message at all. It says when there are no acceptable minority representation in superhero comic books instead of establishing one of our own, let's just take one from whitey.

Isn't it racist to portray blacks wearing a mask over their face?

Spiderman is a specific alter ego of a specific human being, given to him during a specific event (spider bite). It is not a title to be passed down to another like the Dread Pirate Roberts.

My argument is better than anything you could ever come up with.
