Defense and Homeland Security because it's the one thing in your list that needs to be done at national level that really can't be accomplished by individuals. Education would certainly follow defense.

I chose healthcare as nothing has been more devastating than mass disease. You can have all the weapons in the world, but if everyone is infected and dying with no one to treat them, they are worthless.

There was a time when the only thing the goverment funded was the military. Those were the good ole days. Try enjoying your government funded welfare or heathcare with Hitler or Stalin rolling tanks into Washington, DC.

Defense is the only one ENUMERATED in the Constitution.

Government is the ONLY way for people to get healthcare? Wow, I must be one really unhealthy person then.
