I think it is a real possibility he doesn't run. I don't see how he can.

You know what? My Congressman said on Tuesday that there was plenty of money in the treasury to take care of all bills up through about August 11 or 12. I posted the graph he spoke from the other day, even did it twice and nobody was interested in it. What he was saying was that Geithner and Obama picked Aubust 3 as the drop dead date because Obama wanted to use that date as threat to old people. He used it and then they just forgot about it. BTW, this man is one of the beginners who surely does belong to the Tea Party and voted against the very illegally passed law that forced this thing on us.

We'll still probably have a down day on Monday, but I guess they're hoping that it won't be as bad if professionals who make up the bulk of trading have a time to process the information.

Re Obama: He should have caved in more to get to the 4 trillion - or he could have paid attention to this epic s**t show early on instead of shoving a healthcare bill down our throats.

That's just cuckoo. They are a large part of the Rep majority in the House.

Well...if they were the hold up with the debt ceiling being raised, as Dems and Reps have both said, then yes, in part, they were. Read the statement by S&P. There is an entire paragraph that talks about a loss of faith due to the infighting in our system, especially this latest round.

Now I don't agree their reasons and think its a bunch of bs but based on what they said, the tea party can take a share of the blame too.

Evil, I know you are a partisan hack, but perhaps you will free your brain for just long enough to allow a single ray of truth in. Obama was pushing for a $4 trillion deal. He wanted to get there with $3 trillion in cuts, and $1 trillion in tax increases. The overwhelming majority of Americans support this. I think many responsible Republicans support this. John Boehner seemed to support this. The Tea Bags did not. Rather than get behind a bill that could have averted this catastrophe, which will be felt by ALL of us, they spinned their ideological wheels pushing for futile measures and political theater. This is their fault. They are going to get the blame for this.

(If Bush weren't such a rotten coward, he'd man up and take some of the heat on himself though.)

You can spin it all you want. You and I, and the rest of the world knows, the GOP failed to compromise and meet in the middle to reach the $4 tril in cuts needed.

It seems so elementary, but many don't seem to grasp it. You cannot keep raising the debt ceiling without making cuts. It is simple math. The United States deserves to be downgraded for irresponsible spending on the part of both parties. How much money did we spend to put shrimp on a treadmill? Those special interest wastes of money have been around for years. How about the brilliant move to shut down farmland to save an endangered fish species? People need to come to grips with reality. We voted these fools into office, let them keep spending like drunken sailors and now act shocked?!
