They've overpaid into the system for years, while all the other government entities have defaulted - but now we're supposed to be upset with the one Administration, who until email, was able to all but fund the retirement trust for all federal employees? Now, they cannot 'overpay', but we BLAME them?
Ignorant.
If the postal service shuts down (or when they cut back to 3 days a week), we're talking even MORE Americans out of work, not to mention the people who they hire each year - additional losses. It's a dying industry and there is no easy answer. The ignorance of those that do not understand or recognize the impact this will have on the entire world is staggering.

European postal services adjusted to the internet. The US postal service didn't. One has to keep up with the times if they want to survive.
As mail decreased they did not adjust labor. They continued to pay people even though they had nothing to do..union contract. They are as good as the auto manufacturers.
$3.1 Billion sounds like chump change when you consider that Obama adds $4.1 Billion to the national debt daily.
