Is there a chance in Hades that Americans can come together to save our country? (multiculturalism, enemies)

My heart goes out to you. As a parent, I have the same fears. I wish instead of cramming our views down our fellow citizens throats, we could agree on the fundamenal elements of good governance.
For instance, I am not antibusiness at all, but I think that one of the richest countries on the world should provide single payer health care. My brother battled cancer at 12. That is tough enough without the financial fallout. And I am all for a millionaire becoming a billionaire, but I think that allowing a working person to rise out of poverty is better. Also, I think that our financial enterprises should not destroy the environment. I could go on, but my point is, I love this country and my fellow citizens, and I am eager to work with my fellow citizens to make this country better, rather than turn it into ecotopia or a theocracy.
It will be interesting to see how things play out over the next few months. It seems like scorched earth is the strategy now, on the right, but also on the left. I hope they can be honorable in the coming year(s).
It is apparent that our elected officials will never be able to serve the people as they are too busy serving themselves.
No.
We're doomed.
We are _doomed_ as long as there are people who have a 9th grade education and think that they can make complex international economic decisions based on what Jesus told Michelle Bachmann in a halucination.
We are _doomed_ as long as there are poor people in Redneck, Idaho who believe that the Bush tax cuts for the rich somehow, magically benefitted them.
We are _doomed_ as long as there are people who wear tin foil tri-corner hats as they ride their Medicare approved scooters down to the mailbox to get their Social Security checks while they scream gibberish (they heard on FOX "News") about socialism.

It will be hard for Americans to come together when we have an occupant of the office of President that is the most divisive thing to hit America since the War Between the States, aka the Civil War.
I stuffed mine into land and a roof over my family's head. The Feds haven't yet learned how to print land and, since they want open borders, it won't get any less expensive.
We lost our AAA rating as soon as they came together. That should tell you something. They raised the debt ceiling and voila - we lost our good credit rating.
We'd have been better off if they were still bickering.
