Mid-way thru Carter's second term.

...and it continues downhill. At least we had time for Reagan to get the hostages free.

Not even close, Obama is hands down the worst. Carter is so thankful Obama came along.

That's crazy, Kennedy was a great president.

Jimmy haplessly helped things get worse, Obama seems to have full intent to do so.

What makes you think Carter or Obama is the worst? That honor goes to Richard Millhouse Nixon! Carter & Obama inherited econmoc crises while Nixon created a political crisis of his own accord through the Watergate scandal.

I always find it funny that many blame Carter for his recession yet it was years in the making from the policies under Nixon & then Ford. How slimy are Republicans? Ford "pardoned" Nixon and the " Iranian hostages" were released the same day that Reagan became "President"! You want to talk about not "negotiating" with "terrorists"?

Reagan never met a dictator who he didn't like unless they turned on him like Manuel Noriega from Panama! Then he became public enemy # 1! Which is funny since most of Americans didn't know where the hell Panama was! Oh by the way it was Reagan who supported Usama Bin Laden & gave aid to his so called "Liberators"! Funny how being in bed with "criminals" comes back to bite us in the rear!

You're partly right. The President doesn't control congressional budgets. The Democratic party held the majority of Congress for decades until after Clinton was president. The Republicans in congress share equal blame on their out of control spending when GW became president. But both houses of congress made a mess of things without the help of Nixon. You can't really blame Ford for the Economy when he had only a few years as president. However, Carter's international policy made things worse for the nation. What makes Carter and Obama similar is their soft back bone type leadership in the face of adversity. Another thing they have in common is their hatred of Israel.
