Some say that blacks should not be referred to as African Americans because they have no relations with the African Continent while others say the term "black" takes the legacy away from slave ancestors who did not choose to leave Africa.
It doesn't matter. They are interchangeable. The nominal shift to African American was more about self-determination and identity politics than anything else.
Seriously, who cares? If people want to call themselves AA, more power to them I don't care. Not all blacks in our country are slave descendants from Africa though, nor are all AA's black so I think it's a pretty stupid term made up by the PC police.
Neither are accurate, many black people came to the U.S. as both free people and slave owners.
That doesn't even logically follow.
