Okay. Perhaps you should change you name to Clown in Dallas. I thought Casper was a ghost, but if you say he is a Clown, well that is good enough for me.

No, you aren't.

There weren't enough spending cuts.

Furthermore, ANOTHER downgrade is threatened if the inadequate spending cuts agreed to so far don't happen.

- The outlook on the long-term rating is negative. We could lower the long-term rating to 'AA' within the next two years if we see that less reduction in spending than agreed to, higher interest rates, or new fiscal pressures during the period result in a higher general government debt trajectory than we currently assume in our base case.

Credit ratings are based on the ability of the debtor to pay back their loans….

And you blame the Teaparty?

Did they teach you this kind of critical thinking in college?
That, in short, is the problem.

We don't play with boys and girls, we play with Men and Women. Change can be challenging, but try to get used to it.

If you had bothered to read the link, you would have found several citations from world leaders and several links to factual statements. Learning is hard for you, huh?

Standard and Poor's downgraded us because we did not make enough spending cuts/deficit reductions.

Simple as that. No arguing or wiggle room.

Damn Skippy they wouldn't cut that much. As we speak, London is burning, so is Manchester... Birmingham... Liverpool. Britain's Tea Party nutbaggers got in power and tried to cut their way to solvency. And the dispossesed victims of austerity in the U.K. at least had socialized medicine. American's are shooting themselves. How long would it take with a gutted Federal Budget before they turned outward and started burning $#*+?

You think we don't know there is waste in government? Duh! There had been drunks and alcoholics for at least 300 years of Anglo-Saxon history until out of the blue some bright light suggested Prohibition. Cold Turkey. Starve the Beast. That worked well. The real death toll will never be known but it is in the many thousands to 10,000. Doesn't sound like much but America's population was a lot less then and I believe that every untimely death is a tragic event.

A combination of spending cuts and tax increases was the only way to address our budget during the worst economic period since the Great Depression. But Republicans wouldn't agree. Hence the downgrade. If a couple go into a bank to apply for a mortgage and it is clear they are having marital difficulties they will either not get the loan or they will pay a higher interest rate because of the evident instability of their future finances. The downgrade was going to happen even if a better deal had been struck because the sideshow leading up to the deal made it clear that America's future finances are very much in doubt.

They are stuck on stuck on change and espousing such nonsense is childish, in and of itself. The problem is that Americans can't live under a European style government. We simply aren't wired that way. This entire meltdown is a result of said style of governance. It's a failure -- historically, currently (as we can see), and forever in the future.

Cut, Cap and Balance. Make it law; they can't spend more than they take in. No overseas bailouts, stop the regulating madness, close corp. tax loopholes, lower corp. taxes, create a fair tax, shrink government... simple.
