I used to hold higher standard for liberals until.... (party, states, claim)

His campaign and opposition to the Civil Rights act and States' Rights fueled racism in this country. Even Martin Luther King Jr. said it was absolutely stupid to put him up as a presidential candidate.
Which is why he had the biggest loss in all of Presidential history. The only states he won were the Bible belt states who opposed giving blacks rights.
And while he himself may not have been racist, his campaign directly promoted the will of racists in the South.
Your point? Goldwater was an ardent of ending racism as he was ending discrimination against gays. Unfortunately, liberals could not understand this. Barry Goldwater has a long and consistent history of standing up for civil liberties.
Why is this so hard for you to understand? Because you are a liberal. Anyone that doesn't wear a (D) is an enemy.

The exact same thing, and even moreso, can be said of Republicans. Anyone not wearing an R is the enemy, as so evident on this board where 80% of threads are liberal bash fests.
I think you, like many of us, are just disenchanted with our politicians altogether. What you are accusing the left of doing (voting for their guy knowing full well he doesn't really represent their views) is done by both parties. This almost pains me to say it, but I don't think the liberals have changed for the worse, our politicians have. Their standards (if they even have any left) have been sold to the highest bidder ala lobbyists and special interests who fund their re-election campaigns. Our elected officials prance around as if they don't have to abide by the same rules and laws that they pass upon us. We allow them to get away with this behavior and even reward it by voting them right back into office. This isn't a right or left issue, it's an American politics issue.
Obama is not a liberal. The only reason liberals voted for him, is because the other Candidate was so freakin far right of him they had no choice.
Obama is a right of center candidate. A true liberal, like those found in Europe or Canada, would be several orders of magnitude left of Obama.
Would you start educating yourself on our political climate, instead of constantly attacking all of us on the side you no longer like?
And for the record, I did not vote for Obama.
I supported Nader for numerous years and took much heat for it from liberals. However, liberals showed up in groves to vote for Obama. The third party candidates hardly received any votes.
And I see this conversation is over with your personal attack. I have done nothing, but respond in-kind to you and with facts. However, you tell me to educate myself.

Thank you for supporting my thesis that liberals sink to Republican standards.
You sure you want to start voting conservative, I Drink?
That is not a Conservative!!!
