This isn't new, it was first discovered late last year. Most of the big outcry came from Florida foreclosures where BofA stopped processing them for a while so they could "get their paperwork in order".

This from April 2011:
60 Minutes Exposes Foreclosure Paperwork Fraud « Foreclosure Defense Blog
"60 Minutes identified several of the worst offenders–Wells Fargo, Citibank, U.S. Bank, Bank of America (likely in connection with their acquisition of CountryWide), HSBC, and Deutsche Bank. Not surprisingly, none of the big banks would talk to 60 Minutes."

Except for two points:

1. No bank FORCED these "people" take these loans. While I'm not letting the banks off, no one ever discusses the greedy people who took out these loans, knowing full well they couldn't afford them. But of course, its always someone else's fault. Personal responsibility is always someone else's fault.

2. The banks aren't going to "eat" anything. YOU are. If the banks lose any money, that will be passed on to you. Credit card interest rates, bank fee's, borrowing rates, etc will just be raised, to make up the difference. So YOU and I will pay. Not the banks themselves. Believe me, the CEO of Wellsfargo will get his and then some.

And now HSBC is selling off many of their US branches and getting back into international banking.

Come, plunder, leave. Just like that.

Repukes didn't see it coming and in this video you can see our wise, intelligent and obviously well educated democratic party members trying to sound an alarm.
