It most likely will .. I think that last week they sort of picked a spot (-500) to land on, on account of the presumed S&P ratings drop, and today, they're targeting a more precise number or position.

Knowledge, or fear?

I don't fear it, since I have planned well ahead, because I was smart enough to get educated about the path this nation is on.

You do know, fear breeds ignorance.

What was in there, that upset up so much?
Anything in their you feel is a lie?
Wish to discuss it, or just throw out a response like that, because of ignorance?

Should be interesting to see. These are historic times, even if this is not the type of financial history-making we enjoy recalling later . . .

With last week's fall on the index, along with today's index adjustments, and the loss of Freddy and Fannie's (among others) AAA rating today, I think it will be historic enough ..

We can call it a *turning point ..

As an aside .. I think stocks will will tumble a bit more when the downgrade comes on Fannie and Freddy

Good Call ..
It's not as bad as I thought it would be on Friday, last night's futures actually gave some hope as they were contained around -250.

We can still end the day at a -400. But long term, the DOW might lose in little hundreds and seriously flirt with the 10K mark.

Anyway, some of the fearmongers on this thread can go work for some hedge funds around here. They would love to have these yappers on payroll

It can go to 9,000 and I wouldn't be bothered much .. We're nearly at 10,000 now

These are things to be expected I feel, considering all of the funk going on out there

I still think the S&P made a mistake.

The treasury won't put this out boldly otherwise.

Just the Facts: S&P's $2 Trillion Mistake

Downgrade on Fannie and Freddie would pressure housing and housing is the epicenter to this whole thing.

Besides, S&P can strike again in November, with congress possibly continuing to squabble all the way thru.

Bank of America: S&P may downgrade again in Nov
