You poor soul. You just can't understand that there were 60 Democrats there and they couldn't override a filibuster even though all they got was threats. Too bad that your attempt fell on its face.
Proof beyond any doubt of the right's childish behavior and goal to destroy the country at all costs.
Rare right back and point out how the Dems were so screwed although they had the necessary 60 votes to throw out a filibuster. They found it easier to let the threat hold them back and then howl about what the Republicans did to them when they did it to themselves.
How many times has this whole thing been tried here only to die for lack of a second or a third?
no, the filibuster has its uses, like stopping bad bills in their tracks. i will agree however that the filibuster has been overused.
If you really want to stop a bad bill then vote it down. If a political party passes a bad bill then let them pay the price at the ballot box. The current situation in the Senate with its filabuster rules contribute to political gridllock.

this is exactly why the filibuster procedure was created. remember that senators were originally appointed by the state governments, and were NOT elected positions by the people. the reason for that was so that the states had a voice in congress. in fact the senate was modeled after britains house of lords. it has been shown time and time again that you can vote against a bad bill in the house, but if you are in the minority, it will pass. the senate is where reason is supposed to prevail, and the filibuster is part of that reason.
