You have that bass ackwards! Liberals want 75% to get something for nothing, with 50% paying their own share and for 50% of the 75%. Putting the other 25% of the something for nothings on credit.
Does this make good sense to you??
The Tea Party would like it all to be balanced.
The Tea Party would like to have it all. They don't want to pay for a thing by raising taxes to their previous levels, and they expect the country will magically deal with the deficit anyhow.
@Oz in etc: Never let pontificating get in the way of common sense.
Nobody held anybody hostage. You're listening to too much MSNBC.
Last time I checked each congressman got one vote, and the Tea Party supporters only comprise about 10 -15% of the House.
Ok that being the case why do some of the senior members act like they are afraid of them? When bush and company were in the repubs followed them to hell and back and than later on (after they left office) complained about the things that voted on? The refuticans stick together unlike the dumbo rats
I think a lot of things about the tea party. Of course, this doesn't apply to every single one of them, but this is my overall view: <cracks knuckles, begins typing.>
1. They think fiscal responsibility is important (a plus) but have no idea how to do it properly.
2. They think that anyone who doesn't agree with them 100% is an unpatriotic communist who wants to destroy America.
3. They self righteously consider themselves the only good, decent Americans and everyone else as un-American garbage.
4. They are angry, resentful, hateful and irritable toward those who aren't like them. If I were to tell one of them, in person, that I was a liberal, I truly would not feel comfortable around them. I don't feel that way around typical conservatives.
5. They think Obama is practically the antichrist.
6. They are hypocrites because they suddenly appeared right as Obama became president, even though Bush racked up the deficit too.
7. They think government is inherently evil, and rarely a necessary evil.
8. They don't make a difference between this government and North Korea. It's all tyranny to them.
9. They only watch and listen to right wing media.
10. They believe their interpretation of the constitution is the only valid one. As if they were there at the convention.
I agree with the above and because of that I agree with the below
I had a similar thought about them at the beginning of the debt celing negotiations. I was thinking, "okay good, way to put career politician walruses in their spots". But then, they went too loco at the expense of the country's image.
Okay. So the US will burn down, fall over and sink into a swamp, but it at least it will look good.

Well that's just common sense.
Twice in history while the US was experiencing economic turmoil, taxes were raised. The result.....
Depression one and recession the other time.

No it isn't. You might want to read some economic text books so you can do the math.

And if they raised taxes causing a recession, you would be right here throwing a temper tantrum like 2 year old and blaming the Tea Party.
The Tea Party members are the only politicians that are voting their campaign promises. Less government. Lower taxes. No compromise. Democrats are still wanting more programs. Doubling the size of government in 10 years wasn't enough for them. They could not even vote for small percentage cuts in the budget of The Botanical Gardens and Government Printing Office. How would they ever get serious about cuts.
I am not happy about the republicans that voted YES. The things that should be cut are the ones that are off the table.

Yea, yea that is nice but those funky 60 or so seats DO NOT RUN THE WHOLE COUNTRY nor the world. Their inability to understand the financial markets or repercussions of non compromise nearly screwed the country up. Not to mention the millions of dollars of folks pensions, savings and investments that took a dive because of their stupidity. Those few funky districts that voted them in should realize that this country does revolve around them and their beliefs.
I bet if ten people did not like Sports and held the respective governing bodies hostage and there was a threat to end it how would you feel about it?
