True. I think some people easily forget their parties history though. I made this thread to show how easily party perception can change... and how parties own principles can change.
Sometimes it seems like Republicans these days are the war party... but it wasn't so not too long ago...

That's true. The Parties have changed a lot although sometimes I think it is a case of both parties shifting left when some issues like war, remaining in one place. There are still a lot of armchair hawks in the Democratic Party but, in higher national offices, they do seem to be mostly Republicans.
It was the Vietnam thing that caused me to leave the Democratic Party many years ago. I call it a thing because even then the Democrats lacked the backbone to declare it a war. They continue that tradition today but that's "small potatoes" to more serious concerns I have with my old party.
From my perspective, one good thing that came out of the Vietnam era is that it has become politically incorrect to criticize a soldier no matter your political party.
Except that WWI and WWII were World Wars where we were attacked, and not some attempt to put the blame off on someone else who didn't do it, to get oil, to avenge daddy, and not to not seem weak.
And like it was said, ideals of parties change, WWI Democrats are more in line with Republicans now.
Well that's certainly a silly and irrational way to look at it.
