The things is the Republicans are going to whine and stomp their feet and say no tax revenue increases again right before the presidential campaign season kicks off.
The majority of Americans agree on two things:
Federal spending need to be cut
Tax revenues especially those base on people and corporations that have benefited during this economic downturn need to rise.
The more the Republicans are uncompromsing and unreasonable the more people they will push away from them.
............he is now filthy rich and doesn't want the job..............
Obama knows higher taxes will be bad for the economy

He just Talks......he loves playing president but does no work
Those that voted for him will still vote for him. The question is, how many will be voting from their couch banging on a keyboard, but not at the polls, because they feel he is not worth their valuable time.
I am also not sure that Mr. Obama wants another four years-----his demeanor at the podium today seemed to telling a story of a man that perhaps wants to be somewhere else.
I think the man is well intentioned-----at the start of his administration he appeared to ready to fight the good fight----but he looks like a boxer who has taken a ton of body blows.
I am disappointed in him-----he has lost focus, initiative, and direction. I think he now senses a lot of people have come to the conlcusions that I have drawn.
We all have low patches. And today was an incredible blow to a standing president. However, instead of pitching him, I am standing behind him, because on all the economic issues I have read over the last few months, he seems to be taking the right position. We don't need dogma, we need solutions and flexibility. He has taken some shots from a particularly nasty and irresponsible congress. I think he wanted to lead, not fight every single day against a bunch of loonies. But he has a superior vision, and I want to see it fulfilled.
By the way, the author is black. Most real leftists are not as hamstrung by lame political correctness as you want to believe.
Interesting article.

There is also something disturbingly ritualistic and superficial in the Obama camp’s young minions’ enthusiasm. Paul Krugman noted months ago that the Obamistas display a cultish quality in the sense that they treat others’ criticism or failure to support their icon as a character flaw or sin.
Hillary would have been much better. The Clintons didn't take crap from the Republicans.
But Bill did do a major compromise with them or have you forgotten?
