When you voted for obama did you think that.... (Congress, Whitehouse, independent)

I voted for the President, but I didn't expect any miracles. This nation avoided an economic disaster, but couldn't counteract the deep recession that resulted from decades of easily obtained credit and an increasingly cavalier attitude about debt. That recovery would be a hard slog is what I expected.
There must not be any chess players in this administration because they don't seem to be thinking five moves ahead. That is the problem with, or my problem with, this administration. When the President signed the Bush Administration tax cut extension, what did he get in return? What did this administration get in return for signing the debt ceiling bill? If there is a game that the administration is playing, if there is an ultimate goal that it is aiming for, I don't see it.
In my humblest of opinions, there is no conservative on this planet who could have dealt any better with unemployment than this administration. There was a very deep hole to climb out of, and this nation's debt load limited the usual rope we use to get out of these holes.
There are 13 months to the next presidential election. Enough time for the start of an economic recovery that could ensure re-election. Why not? Stranger things have happened in American politics.
....the unemployment rate would have risen to and been stuck above 9%, with real unemployment around double that?
....the housing market would still be sinking?
....the number of people in poverty would be at historic highs?
....the number of people on food stamps would be at historic highs?
....the healthcareless bill would turn out so "unexpectedly" bad that thousands of companies would need waivers just to stay in business?
....1 of the 2 wars would be expanded threefold, the other would be extended and 3 more would be added illegally?
....GITMO would still be open and operating on all cylinders?
....the detainees at GITMO STILL would not have had their trial?
....Obama would decide it is best to extend the Bush tax cuts?
....Obama's policies would prove so horrible that the democrats would lose the midterm elections in historic fashion?
....Obama would refuse to admit any mistakes and would do nothing but be divisive, negative and insult & blame everyone else?
....America would lose its AAA credit rating on Obama's watch?
....we would be heading into a double dip recession? Some say depression.
....we would have record record setting deficits?
....the debt would have been expanded the fastest of any POTUS in history?
....the democrat Senate STILL would not have passed a budget?
....Obama's budget would not even get ONE democrat vote and would go down 97-0?
In short, is this the Change you were Hoping for? Is this exactly what you envisioned? I know this isn't what I thought it would be like when I voted for him. Now where is that mulligan I need so badly?
Actually, yes, I imagined all of these things, and I'd vote for him again. Almost every last one of these problems is attributable to what came before him, and while he's president, he's no magician. Of course his job would have been much easier if the GOP didn't exist, but that's beyond his control.

I just wish he'd be more partisan.
Soooo you are partisan and will vote for one side of the fence regardless of outcome? Hmmmm.....no wonder the economy is so bad now after almost 3 years of Obama.

Yep.

What he got was unemployment benefits extended for millions of people who needed them. He also got at least a deal on paper that avoided a technical default. He got to save the nation from the consequences of a political wing that seems quite willing to make the most vulnerable in society suffer as they run the economy over the cliff in the name of ideology. I understand Obama's actions; I just don't understand his lack of rhetoric and his inability to get out front and center on this thing. He needs to stop being so calm, cool, and collected once in a while and he needs to get out and start kickin some sh*t around. The problem is, I'm beginning to think he doesn't have it in him. He became popular because he was basically a nice guy. He got elected because he was a nice guy, who promised to work with both sides of the political spectrum. He did pretty much what he said he would...and that's the problem. He's finding out that Washington has no regard whatsoever for virtues. If anything, their proving to be a vice.

McCain's plan was to cut taxes even more and spend more money in Iraq. Hardly the sort of plan that was going to get us out of debt anytime soon.

I don't know, but I don't think Obama is Clinton. I'm not sure if he's Carter, either. He's probably somewhere in between. I think Obama is more pragmatic than Carter, but he lacks Clinton's aggression. Clinton was ready to go to war with the Republicans, and he knew how to do it. He learned to hate the ----- (word that rhymes with runts). Obama needs to develop that enmity, or he's going to lose in a landslide. I have no idea who would be the one to deliver the political mule kicking, but it'll happen if he doesn't at least turn things around somewhat soon.
How do you figure? Haven't you been keeping up with the news?
A deep recession is hardly a disaster. A majority of Americans have jobs and businesses have trillions of dollars in cash on hand just aching to spend (Cash Cushions: List of Companies Backed By Massive Cash Holdings). Just imagine when they start letting that cash of the leash. "Recovery" is a word that comes to mind.
If you voted for obama to prove you are not a racist, maybe you should vote for someone else next time to prove you are not an idiot?
You know whats funny...I have yet to EVER come across ANYONE in ANY walk of life that has given ANY indication they voted for Obama because of 'white guilt'.
Really I think the 'white guilt' is with the Republican trash, whom have proven beyond all doubt they take the 'idiot crown'.
I think for one:
1. They are by far hung up on the 'race issue' because they know part of their utter rage towards Obama is because he doesn't fit their Pat Robertson wet dream
2. They want any reason they can come up with to make it like Obama wasn't legitimately elected...It was out of guilt, 'hope', etc. They want to make us forget about the fact that he was elected because the Republicans had 8yrs to run the country into the ground and are utterly worthless and incompetent so they lost!
I knew that President Obama would have a very steep uphill battle to fight and I was (and am) ready to give him a full 8 years to undo 8 years of the GWB policies and setbacks. President Obama did not step into the White House after the successful presidency of Bill Clinton, he stepped into the horsecrap that GWB left behind and the open calls for sabotage from the GOP. President Obama has done well, especially with all things considered.

Haha, that is a good one.
His Bamstercare is causing a lot of health insurance companies to jack rates way up in anticipation of the coming nightmare.
