What, pray tell, will the public schools tell the 11 year old children is the "appropriate age for sexual activity?"
How about achieving passing scores as a mandate. I think they are focusing on the wrong head.

It's more that sex is not all that taboo anymore. It's been marginalized and accepted.
Those articles you read about..you get the initial article and then it dies and you hear no more, no follow up.
Years ago you did right through trial and sentencing. Today..just the accusations and possible arrest, leave of absence and then it's over and everyone goes back to BAU.

The goal now is to have the government teach them in the schools because everyone is doing it and there's nothing wrong with that. Right ?

If it is not thanks to sex education from a very early age of course adapted to the age (resulting in more social acceptance and openness about sexuality in general and of teens in particular) and less influence of religion (I would also add easier and free of cost access to birth control), how would you explain the huge difference in teen pregnancies between USA and western continental Europe ?

Just a case of luck? wow, we did draw a great straw !

(no need to give a link, there are thousands, very easy to check)

EDIT : I will add that "despite" that sex education, teenagers in France for example lose their virginity at virtually the same age they did 50 years ago : 17,4 years for boys, 17.6 years for girls nowadays, it used to be 17,9 years and 18,9 years for generations born between 1944 and 1953. But marriage age is now much older than it used to be . Maybe teens can now lose their virginity (and still choose not to before the same age as their grandparents) but don't "have to" get married when they get pregnant since they know how not to ? Just a thought...

I recall it was an optional class too.

So bring that down to the MS and HS levels. Have a schoolwide event in the auditorium with these college students on stage and the whole school can see and then have a Q&A after that.
Hand out condoms and a How-To at the end as they leave.

There..no more unwanted pregnancies and all the kids in NYC will now know how to "do it".

Why beat around the bush with tip toeing about sex education. Just bring it right up front on a stage and DO IT for them and let them ask questions. That is what you want..right ?
Old stuff. Already been done. Time to catch up.

68 F3d 525 Brown v. Hot Sexy and Safer Productions Inc | OpenJurist

Only difference, the porn show included "simulated" acts and taunting/teasing from the "woman" from the company, "Hot,Safe & Sexy" of the students in this public school. Oh, and the class wasn't "optional." Some uptight, old fogy, party pooper parents tried to sue the school for making their 14 year old daughter watch this porn show aka sex education class, but luckily the judge ruled in favor of the school. Read the official court docs in the link. Interesting stuff.

That's why I said it should probably be there but voluntary.

Some parents don't know how to cook either... what are you gona do? It's still their choice.

You heard it here first:

Cooking = having sex.

I guess both you and your daughter need to read more.

Maybe you need to read more:

"The demonstration was conducted after a psychology class."

What part of "after" do you not understand?

Also, this:

"Guest lecturer Ken Melvoin-Berg, who was invited to the class by Professor J. Michael Bailey, is defending the voluntary demonstration as educational — a couple engaged in a sex act."

What part of "voluntary" do you not understand?

I had no idea Northwestern was "revered". That's a very odd choice of words.
