This is only a sign of the times.

Europe's heavy entitlement program has backfired. Instead of creating societies full of cultured people with high standards of living, instead, it has created a monstrous underclass who think they deserve everything handed to them. Now that European nations are suffering from debt problems even more ridiculous than our own, they can no longer feed the monster and these beasts are out for blood.

No doubt, America faces many of the same problems. But I think Europe, particular Britain and France are in a worse position.

But there is no doubt that the US has a similar underclass who are a similar burden and threat to civilization.
