I think it is. People doing this demonstrate a close minded point of view and an unwillingness to listen to anything the potential POTUS has to say.

Personally, I don't see why a politician's personal religious beliefs should be my concern in the first place. But then, I'm not the religion bashing type.

If someone campaigning for president is delusional I think that might be important information when deciding whether or not to cast a ballot for that person.

I don't think religious people are automatically delusional. But if they let their religious beliefs determine their policies (like our policy toward Israel), then it becomes a problem. If someone's an evangelical, jew, atheist, I really don't care as long as they keep the country running smoothly and profitably.

If beliefs can be separated from policies, there are no issues. The problem is, that usually isn't the case and is perfectly fine to open such a person up for attack. Prime example: Perry and his chosen people with the "creationism" issue in Texas classrooms.

As POTUS, Perry would not have the leeway to do so nationally.

That's a good point. I guess I'm talking about it in principle. Of course the real world muddles up principles.

So Democrats should not be able to go after Perry's wacky religious views, but reverend Wright is fair game?

Is this about Romney belonging to a cult that allows men to marry many women?

I'm more concerned about party affiliation than religious affiliation.

Read my post again. I asked if it was politically risky. Is it?
