Our economy is suffering because people can't find work due to lack of skills and expertise. We no longer live in an economy where the average Joe can obtain economic merits without education or a skill. If people today get a chance to go to school or get training, we would see massive economic growth in our country. This is why our government should give out more grants.

If politicians want to spur job growth and the economy, they would impose a 2 year moratorium on capital gains tax, and lower marginal rates by 10% across the board. Then they would abolish the Dept. of Education, EPA, and a couple other useless bureaucracies. Just for starters.

There are already programs like this all over the USA.

And altho a "ready" workforce is certainly preferable . . . that doesn't create jobs. It just creates a better educated jobless workforce, lol.

LOL. It wouldn't do a damn thing for the economy, you know why? First of all, most people won't get the training or education because they simply believe that a good life should just be given to them and secondly, the unemployed already CAN get free training through their employment services office. Since the availability of training HAS been there for years, where is this booming economy you're talking about?

There are many programs out there for people.

The government does offer something:

It's called student loans. Get one. Get your degree/training. Advance yourself.

We have finite resources and education is not free. The public schools (K-12) are funded with taxpayer money (usually through property taxes).

If you are motivated enough, you can improve your skills.

I wonder why people are afraid of student loans? Maybe it's because they are worried they cannot default on those loans? That's a pretty big deterrent. Only those serious enough about their education so get loans.

It's not going to work. If you want jobs, then impose tariffs on China, India, and any other country that has plentiful, cheap labor and withdraw from all free trade agreements. They benefit the multinational corporation, not the small business or the common man

That's not why people can't find work. And how does that spur job growth? Growth in jobs only happens when companies think they can hire people, there are plenty of qualified people out there already.
