Because the whole "The tea party is a mix of democrats, independents and republicans" was just political fodder to sucker the fools in. The tea party is just a group of hard right wing extremists. If they really want to be a serious third party, they need to run as one.

Who said the Tea Party wants to be a 3rd party other than idiot liberals who don't understand the Tea Party in the least bit?

Why should we run as independents and split the conservative/libertarian vote when we can simply take over the Republican Party?

Damn good question!

No doubt it has to with the money they can get by being members of the Republican Party that they could not get as a start up of party. Of course that includes corporate money.

If they REALLY wanted to be independent the would break away from the Republican Party and only accept contributions from individuals. Of course in this day and age that would put them at a decided disadvantage in election campaigns and they know this.

Silly! That's what Ross Perot's REFORM party was all about. But Tea doesn't like their unwillingness to nurse corporate welfare queens. That's why the Republican party cannot be reformed. Tea et al is what corrupted true party principles.

The Tea Party is nothing but a group of half washed Republicans trying to reinvent themselves. The GOP saw the wonders of Obama's extremely successful hope and change movement and they wanted to copy that by inventing a movement for themselves so they came up with the idea of the Tea Party.

At the end of the day, teabaggers are the same Republicans who f****d up America under Bush. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
