If nothing else we'll be guaranteed of the media broadcasting, rebroadcasting, and rebroadcasting ad-nauseum any minor slip she might make, while completely ignoring anything even remotely negative about Obama.

My what a short memory you have. Failure for 13 years running? Which was it who took control of the House in the last election? Which party was in the White House for the previous two terms? Which party won the Governors mansion in heavily liberal states again?

You probably even managed to say that with a straight face. If Obama is so effective how is it that the extremely small number of so called Tea Party members are able to completely shut down his agenda? If he's so effective why was he unable to get anything done when his party controlled the House and Senate? The facts don't support your claim of Obama being "highly effective", unless you're basing that on receiving awards he didn't earn or deserve.

Did she actually say this?

If so, then this is another reason why I am glad that she is not a Congresswoman anymore by now.

No, she wasn't right. She said that Americans feared the rise of the Soviet Union in 2001. First of all, we did not fear their rise back then. And secondly, the Soviet Union fell apart over 20 years ago. She apparently still hadn't realized that the country didn't exist anymore.

I didn't fear the Soviet Union even when there was a such thing as the Soviet Union.

An economics professor I had in a course I took at the University of the Philippines stated, "The Philippines will always be a Third World country because we export tomatoes and import tomato paste." China has always been careful to treat the US like a Third World country: Always sell the US more manufactured goods than they buy from China, always buy more raw goods from the US than they sell to China.
