These two presidents have implemented lots of conservative policies. In my opinion, Bush was more liberal than Obama. Bush signed the pill bill, advocated for homeownership for low income individuals, and signed for stimulus checks.

Obama's record seems to be more conservative. He extended tax cuts, started a war in Libya, hired Wall Street and bank execs into his cabinet, and continued unregulation of the financial industry.

Obama is more conservative than Bush was.

The medicare prescription deal added massive spending to bankroll big pharma, a hard right wing stance. With the housing situation, Bush completely took the reins off of the big banks allowing them to give all those predatory loans leading to the housing disaster. Bush then rewarded them by giving them over a trillion taxpayer dollars, another hard right stance.
Obama is a center/right wallstreet republican. He did not start a war with Libya, but won quickly by not using US troops or adding even more spending on a war, a wise move.
Bush and his admin were extremely far right, Obama is a moderate republican.

Obama signed a bill that cut 2.4 trillion off of our deficits. I don't remember Bush doing that.

He's not really that liberal either. He didn't push for a public option. He didn't push to break up the big banks, he increased troops in Afghanistan, he got us involved in NATO, he's probably going to okay the oil-pipeline from Canada to Texas, he supports more offshore drilling, and he supports nuclear energy. There's a reason why the left is upset with Obama.

In some ways Bush was as liberal as Obama. He spent irresponsibly. He expanded the federal governments role and spending in health care (perscription drug act). He assisted Ted Kennedy with the disasterous expansion of the dept of education with no child left behind. His handling of Katrina was little better than Obama's response to the Haiti earth quake. He expanded federally approved search and seizure activities and the TSA, which gives the weak-minded a feeling of security. In short, all things a big spending, big goverment is here to take care of you liberal would do.

Bush handled Hurricane Katrina well; the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana did not.
