Only the really poor do that and illegal immigration from Mexico has dropped 80% since 2004. The country's economy is growing every year faster than the U.S. despite the violence which 99% of is concentrated in the border states and border cities, education is also more accessible in the country today than it was a decade ago. NY and LA have higher murder rates than most Mexican cities (excluding the border state cities), so this sensationalizsm of how violent the whole country is an exaggeration.

Haha if we left this country up to the right wing religious whackjobs like M. Bachman we'd all be living in the stone age. You legalize marijuana and you'd single handedly see this drug problem dissolve overnight. Allow American farmers to grow and governmen to tax hemp/pot and you'd balance the budget in a year. But Calderon better watch out......if that happened Mexico's economy would implode overnight. So yeah..........I'd love to get a little revenge on that craphole of a country for all the illegals they send through to us every year stealing our resources and sucking off the hardworking American tax payer. Turn about is fair play!!!!!!! I have no idea why Americans vacation in that 3rd world crap hole anymore. Spend your money in this country or Hawaii!!!!
Have you even been to Mexico? Mexico is not a 3rd world country anymore it's a middle income nation and as I have mentioned numerous times before illegal immigration from Mexico has dropped 80% since 2004. It could be because their economy is growing 4-6% every year (even faster than the U.S.), they have low unemployment and education is more accessible. They do have drug violence but 99% of that is concentrated in border states and most of the murders are people involved with the drug trade; almost everywhere else in the country is safe. The reason Americans keep visiting is because they do actual research on the country instead of listening to sensationalized media reports (you're more likely to get murdered in NYC than most cities of Mexico).

Tourism from the United States is way down in Mexico due to the violence. In El Paso, Texas we have several Mexican citizens who have moved their businesses to the United States due to the violence.

You are not more likely to be murdered in New York than Mexico. The cartels are at war. Babies in strollers have been caught and murdered in the crossfire. Are you kidding me?

you know what is an amazing statistic?

regarding LEGAL immigration --the US accepts more legal immigrants as permanent residents than all other countries in the world combined.

Since the removal of ethnic quotas in immigration in 1965,the number of first- generation immigrants living in the United States has quadrupled, from 9.6 million in 1970 to about 38 million in 2007. 1,046,539 persons were naturalized as U.S. citizens in 2008. The leading emigrating countries to the United States were Mexico, India, the Philippines, and China.

so we have LEGAL immigrants streaming nonstop into the country, and we have ILLEGAL immigrants streaming nonstop into the country.

tell me how any other country's economy would be able to handle this? our economy has done remarkably well for having to absorb all these extra people, but it is now completely overwhelmed and there is NOBODY willing to address the issue at all in this administration.

at least there are candidates on the horizon who acknowledge that there is a FUNDAMENTAL problem going on that isn't being addressed-but americans know that wages are down, hours are cut at hourly jobs, unemployment is up, and social services are hitting their highest need in our country's history.

we have less government revenue and more need of government services, and something is going to give.

But much of that is hysteria - even from those fleeing Mexicans themselves. It's just very easy for them to relocate over the border but claiming that all of Mexico is unsafe is a lie. They don't care - they're all about money and don't really care what image they make for the country they are abandoning.

There's absolutely no reason for tourists not to go to Guadalajara, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Puebla, Chiapas, Cancun and many other cities. Of course it wouldn't be wise to get into any dealings with the criminal organizations but they aren't going after innocent tourists.

And yes, it's not smart to bring your children to a bad cartel drug deal. You owe money to these guys and you're going to be a target. That's what's bad about these guys - they don't care if you try to use your children as shields, that isn't going to stop them.

I said most Mexican cities, I was excluding the border cities which are the ones that see 99% of the drug violence. Also, there have been some innocents killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but 99% of the drug violence deaths deal with people who have something to do with the drugs.

Also, you mention Mexican businesses moving their companies to the U.S., well there are some U.S. companies moving or even expanding their businesses in Border states despite the violence:

Here is the article:

Despite Violence, U.S. Firms Expand in Mexico:
