I guess when you are powerless to stop the barbarity in one of your premier cities blaming someone else is the next best alternative.

NAFTA (free trade for the elite) has done enormous damage to Mexico. During the 90s, Mexico was taken over by US corporations which took over many of the resources and pushed many Mexican farmers off their land. Mexico was also overrun by cheap grain from the US (subsidies), which further damaged any hope for the Mexican people to make a living. The US sold this to the Mexican government under the guise of bringing them into the economic fold which has ,indeed, benefited a few, bringing them into gated communities and forcing many, many others into urban areas on the border where the corporations planted themselves. Of course, this was really about cheap labor. When China became more profitable to the US as a cheap and plentiful source of cheap labor, they ditched Mexico, leaving huge swaths of poor and displaced Mexican citizens without land or cohesion.

Now China is on its way into Mexico and Africa.

Crime thrives on social instability, and no government (US or China) wants to be held accountable for the mess Mexico is in.

The drug cartels now have a huge source of labor for those who have no hope. The US, Australia, etc. are buying the drugs which make the drug cartels obscene profits and buy off many in the Mexican army (who are supposedly helping with the war on drugs). The Mexican army favors the sinaloa cartel, so the "war on drugs" is really only a war on other cartels.

Unregulated, greedy, empire builders have destroyed much of this planet, leaving millions without homes, land, or food. Many of these corps. care little about the communities they infest. They have no ties to the town, village, or city they take over and end up spending large amounts of their earnings from their slaves elsewhere (buying up islands, for instance).

To sum it up: the morale of the planet is spiraling downward, nobody will be held accountable, and the gangs have learned from the best. Blaming the poor, Mexican citizens, or anybody else the establishment wants you to blame does absolutely nothing to solve the mindboggling problem. It just creates chaos, confusion, anger, and petty arguments while the real criminals sit tidily and comfortably in their suits.

Calderon is an idiot in his condemnation. He should have referred to "Fast and Furious." This administration is contributed to the demise of innocent Mexican citizens.

So let me get this straight, right wingers are condemning the President of Mexico for his comments, yet they blame the President of the USA and his administration for the violence.

WTF is wrong with these idiots. Where are you William Buckley ??

If you read my post correctly, Calderon was correct to criticize this country but he did it for the wrong reasons. Operation "Fast and Furious" is responsible for the deaths of countless people in Mexico. Obama and Holder must be so proud.

Right wing response -- No, the President and his administration is responsible, not the US government.

The inanity of your post speaks for itself. Semantics don't matter when innocent people died because this administration supplied the cartels with weapons.

Calderon is wrong. How on earth can the US be their allies if their OWN GOVERNMENT is supporting these Cartels with heavy weapons? More like they're destroying your country.

Mexico should just drop this idiot of a president.
