I think there's a huge disconnect between the political Republican and John Doe Republican. The allure of power that attracts politicians are not well-grounded like you and me.

Some psychologists might argue yes. Karl Menninger famously believed people get a vicarious thrill out of first voyeuristically learning about, and then punishing, crime of all types. Not sure if I agree, but it's an idea to which many people adhere.

The reason why I can't believe such statements like that, is that it would mean more than 3/4 of the world population would probably like to feel up a child. I don't think the rate of maladjusted people can seriously be THAT high.
Like I said before, I think the fact that the political office attracts people with a different mindset than you or I, is a factor here. Same applies to people in positions of social or cultural power. These positions do not attract the average person. The average person does not desire to be the center of attention in television or public life

Honestly, I find these stories to be hilarious as hell. The bad thing is though, Puerto Rico has a tendency to actually kill and rough up gays, unlike in the states, so I would suggest the guy leave the island or lay really low
