Report in the New England Journal of Medicine today states that research of women who used RU-486 had no increased risk of ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, preterm birth, or low-birth-weight babies when they eventually decided to have a baby.

And a 100% effective form of birth-control is?

And please don't mention abstinence, this is reality, not FantasyLand.

some of us take responsibility for our actions...and don't really enjoy the whole death thing that goes along with abortion.

why do you think abstinence is a fantasy? Self control DOES exist to some people.

The implication that anyone dealing with an unwanted/unplanned for pregnancy is irresponsible is in itself misleading and irresponsible.

I think abstinence is a fantasy beacuse I see nothing wrong with birth control, and abstinence is the only 100% effective form of birth control so it's a fact that unwanted pregnancies will occur among responsible people.

Birth control and abortion are two different things unless you are admitting that most abortions are used as birth control.

I'm saying no such thing. Can you offer any factual, unbiased data that supports your statement?

YOU were the one who said "Pergnant? No problem.....pop a pill! Personal responsibility absolved ", impyling that only those with no sense of personal responsiibility find themselves facing an unwanted pregnancy.

That is blatantly untrue unless you seriously think people are going to practice abstinence as their only form of birth control. There is no other 100% effective method.

If you don't believe in abortion that's fine, attempting to paint everyone who seeks one as personally irresponsible is not. Personally I think it a good thing that both the procedure and pill are available, this is not a personal decision to be made by a bunch of (mostly) gray-haired old men.

If this type of alternative becomes a commonly available product, and proven to be both safe and effective, does it shift some support in the abortion debate? It seems that the "horror" aspect of abortion, and the marketing of how gross the procedure is, has been somewhat effective in getting younger folks to be more inclined to support elimination of abortions. If a non-surgical alternative is available, would this negate some of the persuasion of the death of an unborn child argument?

The abortionist will probably fight this tooth and nail. Abortions are big business and they will not willing lose that money without a fight.

Norplant would be an option for those sexually active and much less painful then an abortion.......presonal responsibility.

I doubt it will, I believe most abortion oppostion is based on religious beliefs and the method wouldn't affect those beliefs.
